McClain reports Watt will be ready by the start of the 2016 season, a home game September 11 against the Chicago Bears.
In 2015, Watt had his most physically demanding season as a professional, playing with a torn groin and broken hand, both injuries requiring surgery.
Watt, 27, is widely considered as the top defensive player in the National Football League and has never missed a game during his stellar five-year career at defensive end.

Watt had the surgery to fix a herniated disc, according to one report.
Houston Texans All-Pro defensive end J.J. Watt could miss up to ten weeks after undergoing surgery to fix a herniated disc on Thursday. They won the division thanks to a 9-7 record, which came courtesy of a second half surge following a horrendous 2-5 start to the season. Watt had surgery in January and was rehabbing from that procedure before injuring his back. A player who is placed on the PUP list before training camp starts can be taken off at any time.

Last year, Watt was kept out of preseason games to avoid injury and to keep him fresh for regular season.
