How Democratic presidential hopefuls fared at last night’s debate
Hillary Clinton emerged unscathed Tuesday from the Democratic Party’s first presidential debate, giving her renewed momentum as she gears for a showdown with Republicans over the 2012 Benghazi attack.

Nor is it surprising that there is a new twinkle in the eye and dance in the step of Hillary Clinton, while her supporters emerged from the debate as proud of her as the Sanders supporters emerged proud of him, and Democrats across America had one more reason to be proud of both.
But it was in the area of foreign policy that Clinton showed her grasp and fluency, showing her experience of more than two decades in Washington as a First Lady, a Senator, and secretary of state.
“We have a lot of women on Social Security, particularly widowed and single women who didn’t make a lot of money during their careers, and they are impoverished, and they need more help from the Social Security system”.
The Clinton campaign did not offer additional details on the visit, a make-up date from a canceled event that had been planned for last month. Rather, he was bemoaning the attention the controversy takes away from other matters, particularly his focus on an uneven economy tilted to those already at the top.
“Let me begin by telling you what a revolution is all about”, said Sanders, prompting a roar of applause from the crowd. Barack Obama labeled her in a 2008 debate.

Clinton, the former secretary of state and front-runner in Democratic polls, is being widely praised by pundits and political strategists for showing poise, strength and resilience. Trump responded, “Jeb, I was a businessman”.
But any way you slice the numbers, something else becomes clear: The three-hour affair was entirely a battle of Clinton versus Sanders.
A few students say they are happy the debate was not a replay of the Republican matchup. Clinton has made a point of publicly saying she wants to leave Biden with room to make his decision, telling NBC’s Savannah Guthrie recently that it was up to Biden to decide what’s best for him and his family. I love the fact that there is so little hedging in his comments, which is not the way to win in politics, sorry to say.
“What people can trust about me is what people in every position I’ve ever held…know about me”, she said.
“They want a president who is truly independent from those relationships of the past”, he said.
Hillary Clinton has $33 million saved in her campaign’s war chest, more than any other campaign, as she heads into the most intense season of the primary this fall and early next year. Sanders said he supports expanded background checks for gun owners and noted that he’s had a D-minus rating from the National Rifle Association.
O’Malley, Axelrod told CNN, had a “strong night” but didn’t perform “in such a way that he will catapult up into the mix”.
