How get the Android Nougat update for your Nexus device right now

Before you get too excited, this new OTA update has only just started to roll out, and so you might still be waiting for the latest and greatest version of Android to become available. It’s an over-the-air (OTA) update, so not every eligible device out in the wild will receive the new software immediately.

If you want to grab one of the biggest changes Android is having, you have to own a Nexus device, such as Nexus 6P, 5X, 6, 9, and Nexus Player. It’s only a matter of time after Google releases the Android 7.0 source code that developers will create third-party ROMs which will bring Nougat to these devices.

While it did not announce any new Nexus devices, several earlier rumors suggest that two new devices, codenamed Sailfish and Marlin, could be unveiled in September, with a possible release in early October.

Android 7.0 Nougat also has some little features that help you personalize your device.

Have you updated to Android 7.0 Nougat yet?

Seamless updates: New Android devices with Nougat can install software updates in the background which means you won’t have to wait while your device installs the update and optimizes all your apps for the new version.

It also says that the LG V20 will be the first Android smartphone to ship with Android 7.0 out of the box.

Google usually upgrades its Nexus line, devices that it creates in tandem with manufacturers to highlight new Android features, first.

The new OS also has Google’s new Daydream virtual reality platform, although it will be supported only by Daydream-ready handsets running the OS.

Going forward, Android Nougat will receive a regular maintenance schedule that will provide refinements and enhancements. The bundles can be expanded for more detailed information about each specific notification, and you can even reply to notifications directly from the notification shade without launching an app first.
