How Hillary Clinton Made Her Case to America
During her DNC convention speech last night in Philadelphia, where she officially accepted her Party’s nomination for president, Hillary Clinton said Republican opponent Donald Trump can’t handle the “rough-and-tumble” of an election.

Donald Trump broke out some of his greatest hits on Friday to attack Hillary Clinton’s acceptance speech before the Democratic National Convention on Thursday. According to a sentiment analysis conducted by social media analytics firm Spredfast, the social media conversation about Clinton’s speech at the Democratic National Convention was 44 percent more positive and 22 percent less negative than it was when Trump spoke at the Republican National Convention. You want a leader who understands we are stronger when we work with our allies around the world and care for our veterans here at home.
Earlier in the day, Trump refused to credit Clinton’s unique role in history.
Seeking to offset possible weariness with a politician who has been in the spotlight for decades, he said of Clinton: “She’s been there for us, even if we haven’t always noticed”. He loses his cool at the slightest provocation.
For the better part of four nights, the speakers had taken their turns hammering Trump as a self-serving huckster, an alleged billionaire who is running for President only to make his brand bigger, and an enemy to women, immigrants and workers. But on the biggest night of her campaign, with the nation’s television screens tuned in, she walked on stage dogged by doubts and headwinds, with more than half the country saying they had concerns about her trustworthiness. I’ve worked across the aisle to pass laws and treaties and to launch new programs that help millions of people.
An even higher percentage of people in some polls say they do not believe Clinton is honest and trustworthy, and the percentage who believe the country is seriously off track remains at high levels.
Democratic strategist Robert Weiner says Clinton must show more of that side to voters while on the campaign trail, between now and November. His supporters chanted at times during her speech only to be drowned out by her supporters. “A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons”, she said.
Ms Clinton also promised working on the unfinished economic agenda of the Obama Administration and added her own set of proposals to it. After making a surprise appearance with Obama late Wednesday, she went back to her hotel to keep working on the latest draft of the address. When he’s gotten a tough question from a reporter.
The Democratic nomination now officially hers, Clinton has just over three months to persuade Americans Trump is unqualified for the Oval Office and overcome the visceral connection he has with some voters in a way the Democratic nominee does not.
He also knocked the length of her “very long” 57-minute speech. It was just too hard to fathom – that someone who wants to lead our nation could say those things.
She spent a large part of the speech tearing apart Trump’s positions on everything from the military to his steadiness. She offers progress in small steps rather than bold strokes.
Her daughter Chelsea, who introduced her, also aimed to humanize her mother, regaling the crowd with tales about she loves FaceTiming with her granddaughter Charlotte.
