How Joey and Rory Feek reacted to their Grammy nomination

“Indy and I had been living out of a suitcase and needed a little more room and this place has a big picture window in the bedroom so Joey can look out and see white geese and black swans swimming in the pond and deer walking down the path. It’s unbelievable”. “God is so good”, he writes.

Joey Feek, a 40-year-old country singer, recently entered hospice care after a two-year battle with cervical cancer, for which she opted to stop treatment in October.

So touching. Although Joey Feek’s cancer continues to worsen, she and her husband, Rory, cried happy tears on December 7. “Thank you, thank you, thank you”.

Their competition includes the Brothers Osborne for “Stay a Little Longer”; Charles Kelley, Dierks Bentley, and Eric Paslay for “The Driver”; Little Big Town for “Girl Crush”; and Blake Shelton featuring Ashley Monroe for “Lonely Tonight”.

“Joey’s still feeling pretty good, really good actually”, Feek writes.

“My wife knows I love Christmas. There’s a magic that’s in the air that isn’t there any other time of the year”, he penned.

When I got back to the house, Joey’s sisters and I opened the bag and realized that those nice folks had bought and wrapped 25 separate presents (they’re all different books I think) for IN to open… one each day from December 1st, all the way through Christmas. And not just any Christmas – a very special Christmas – one that we’ll never forget, ‘ he added.

But the cancer returned and this summer the couple, who live in a farmhouse in Tennessee, announced that doctors had told Joey there was nothing more they could do.

He also shared footage from the incredibly personal music video for If I Needed You, which documents the birth of the couple’s daughter, Indiana, who was born with Down syndrome in 2014. Since then, Joey has made a decision to return to the home she grew up.
