How Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool overwhelmed Manchester

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said it will be “hard work” for his team to finish in the top four as he moved to played down expectations after Saturday’s 4-1 win at Manchester City.

“The Premier League fixtures felt like a fix with us travelling first to tough grounds like Stoke, Arsenal, Spurs, United, Everton, Chelsea and Man City”.

The Blues have struggled at time in UEFA Champions League play, particularly away from home – despite getting all three points, the performance against Borussia Mönchengladbach in September was one of the worst of the season from Pellegrini’s team. It was a very close game, we did not deserve to lose.

Most of the damage was done in a whirlwind opening period as Liverpool raced into a 3-0 lead after forcing an Eliaquim Mangala own goal and with further strikes from Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.

Milner, who joined Liverpool from City in the summer, was sorry to see the man who signed him, Brendan Rodgers, leave so early in his Anfield career.

“We didn’t do it as effectively in the first half, and they changed their formation a bit, but I still thought we put in a pretty good second half”.

“I had some difficulties in Italy when I was younger”, said the 23-year-old. And it’s remarkable how quickly they have proven effective in the two biggest games of his reign.

“There’s been pressure at times and that’s what you expect playing for a massive club like Liverpool”.

City have won their last three matches in the competition to secure their place in the knockout stages with two games to spare.

“At times we haven’t quite had the belief in ourselves that we are as good as we know we can be”.

Liverpool are very keen on snapping up Icardi and the reports go on to claim that the Premier League side could launch a bid of around £24.5million in order to tempt Inter into parting with their star man. Few weeks ago, Liverpool had lost to Crystal Palace in Klopp’s first loss as Liverpool manager. You see his emotion on the touchline.

Asked if he felt he was fouled by Coutinho in the build-up, Sagna said: “To me it is a foul because he clearly pushed me, but the game kept going and we conceded a goal”. He opened space sometimes but it’s no problem, that’s my work, I try to help, it’s not so easy from outside but when you win 4-1, everything is okay.
