How Many People Watched Jon Stewart’s Final ‘The Daily Show’?

Stewart joking replied “See you in 1998″, not knowing he would actually be offered his job hosting “The Daily Show” in 1998. Barack Obama made his first appearance on the show a few days before he was elected President.

“So I say to you tonight, friends, the best defense against bullsh- is vigilance”, he declares. And it only got better from there.

Stewart, whose handful of extracurricular activities include writing and directing the 2014 drama Rosewater, has kept relatively quiet about his plans, except to say he intends to spend more time with his family. Stewart has dominated the arena of political satire with some of the most honest interviews, segments, and tirades in television history.

“You are infuriatingly good at your job”, Colbert continued.

Several politicians, like Hillary Clinton and Chris Christie, repaid Stewart for his frequent jabs with unkind remarks in a montage.

After Colbert finished his final goodbye to Stewart, Colbert sent it to commercial as the whole team of former correspondent came out and hugged Stewart, doing a mock huddle with everyone jumping like they just won a major championship.

One of Stewart’s favorite musical acts, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, was also on hand to wish the host a fond farewell. “It breaks my heart, it really does”, said Rick Melli, 54, of Parsippany, New Jersey, before the final show. But there was one person who couldn’t have made goodbye any sweeter.

Stewart’s finale went longer than the traditional half hour, knocking out “The Nightly Show“. Colbert, ended “The Colbert Report” in December, and Letterman signed off in May. “He showed us how we should not always trust what we are being told”. We think he’s amusing. He will be replaced by South African comedian Trevor Noah, who recently spoke about the pressure he feels in taking over the institution. It probably meant much more to Stewart and his gang than it did to viewers.
