How many people watched Super Bowl 50?
The game was neither a thing of beauty nor a nail-biter in the closing seconds, but the late uptick in the ratings suggests viewers wanted to witness the coronation of Peyton Manning in what is likely to be his final game as an National Football League quarterback.

At this point, not setting a ratings record is essentially a disappointment for the Super Bowl. That’s just off from last year’s 49.7 rating. Only last year’s game drew more viewers.
Besides the final score and cost of a 30-second commercial, one of the most important numbers from any Super Bowl are the final television ratings. The 2015 overnight rating marked an all-time high for the Super Bowl, ultimately translating to an average 114.4 million viewers.
The Broncos’ 24-10 victory over the Panthers on CBS had an average rating of 49.0 and a share of 73, narrowly edging last year’s thriller between the Patriots and Seahawks, which had a 49.7.
Actual viewership totals will be released later in the day on Monday. That’s down from last year’s record of 49.7/72 when the game aired on NBC.
Internet streaming of Super Bowl is not counted, either.
