How Miss Philippines and Miss Colombia responded to Steve Harvey’s gaffe
It could have been two Miss Universe titles in a row for Colombia but soon after Guiterrez took her first walk as the victor, the host admitted to have made a mistake in announcing the winners.

Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez is mistakenly crowned Miss Universe 2015 during the 2015 MISS UNIVERSE show at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, California, on December 20, 2015.
Last year’s victor Paulina Vega was summoned back on stage and she had to do one of the most hard task – remove the crown from Miss Colombia and placed it on Wurtzbach’s head instead. The apology could have been meant either for the rightful victor, the Philippines’ Pia Wurtzbach, or for Colombia’s Ariadna Gutierrez, who briefly wore the crown in error.
Meanwhile, pageant judge Niecy Nash told Entertainment Tonight: “It was hard, because when all the girls came down at the end, they didn’t congratulate the real victor, which was Miss Philippines”.
While Pia was in pure bliss upon knowing that she is the next Miss Universe, the runner-up was obviously devastated. “I was watching Miss Universe with my family and we even celebrated when we heard Colombia was going to be Miss Universe for the second year in a row”.
Hilton says his first reaction to the mix-up was that the pageant was “rigged” because he knew he and the other judges had voted for Miss Philippines.
Harvey has since apologized for his mistake, both during the telecast and on Twitter, but not everyone has been as forgiving as Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines. “The photos are there to prove it. To me, as a Colombian, she is still Miss Universe”.
“I feel awful”, he wrote.
We have another twist in the 2015 Miss Universe pageant saga. The crown went to Wurtzbach. Many questioned how the host could have made such a very big mistake.

“I think that if it would’ve happened to me, I would’ve handled it with the grace and dignity that my mom and dad raised me to have and I would’ve been very happy for the other person”, Watson-Watkins said.
