How SpaceX lands the Falcon 9 rocket
The SpaceX launch and landing this week was a much trickier accomplishment, and marks the first time a rocket has been safely landed after delivering a payload into orbit.

SpaceX: SpaceX, the spaceflight company run by billionaire super genius Elon Musk, has successfully landed its powerful Falcon 9 rocket in an upright position without crashing.
SpaceX’s released video images which showed the first stage of the rocket touching down at Cape Canaveral, Florida. As the second stage of the rocket separated, the first stage, also called the booster, made its way back to the launch pad.
“The Falcon first stage landing is confirmed”. The latest mission was capped by delivery of all 11 satellites to orbit for customer Orbcomm.
NASA learned this lesson the hard way with its space shuttle program, said Ray Sedwick, who teaches aerospace engineering at the University of Maryland.
Multiple space companies were competing to achieve this breakthrough, but SpaceX is the first to succeed in landing a rocket for a non-suborbital trip. The company’s mission was to make the rocket reusable, which will eventually reduce the cost of space exploration.
Earlier another company backed by founder and CEO of Amazon.com, Jezz Bezos successfully landed a rocket back on Earth.
Several attempts to land the Falcon 9’s first stage on a floating ocean platform have failed – with the rocket either colliding with the autonomous drone ship or tipping over. But, Falcon 9 rocket of SpaceX is more complex than Blue Origin’s rocket as it’s created to go higher in space.

“Lower launch costs mean more space-related endeavors, more startups, more space tourism, more space businesses”, he said.
