Thursday night’s new “How to Get Away with Murder” episode showed itself to be, once again, a landmine for Annalise Keating.

In the one-minute clip, Annalise pays Sinclair a visit and warns the latter that she is making “a rookie mistake” due to “tampering and intimidation” of Asher. But apart from the hard situations they are facing, Will Bonnie Winterbottom be taken to the authorities now by Asher after she decides the blame for Sam’s murder? They name off a bunch of people, but the only one that makes sense is a former business partner of the father’s who was kicked off the board recently. And yet, if Annalise really does feel something real for Wes, the show has yet to provide any kind of real reason for it. So we’re stuck with these super intense scenes that are just totally empty, and it’s hard to build any real character development on that.

When she gets there she realizes that Jill made it look like her husband attacked her and Jill told her that she could explain. (Excuse me, WHAT?) We find out that Wes’ mother killed herself when he was twelve, after she was able to get him to the states. “Our goal was to reveal a hint of why Annalise and Bonnie are so bonded”. Annalise tries to spin this off as a hate crime and then accuses the detective and the DA’s office of being transphobic and demands that the charges be dropped.

Asher gets a phone call from a reporter asking for information on the girl Tiffany that the DA was using as blackmail. Sinclaire chooses to back off of Asher but only on the condition that they are still working on the Hapstall case – since when did Emily Sinclaire and Annalise Keating become each others arch-nemesis? While at the Hapstall manor, trying to come up with ways of ruling out the aunt, Caleb, Catherine and Laurel get struck by the idea of the siblings birth parents being possible suspects. That she stole whatever time he had to spend with his wife by sending him to prison for a crime he didn’t commit.

Wes learns the truth about Annalise: that she knows more about Rebecca’s disappearance than she claims, and Laurel meets Frank’s family. So long as Annalise is around him, we have to feel like matters are only going to get a few much worse for him. Wes says that he doesn’t believe that Annalise doesn’t know where Rebecca is.
