Peter Dinklage and Kit Harrington are both up for best supporting actor, Emilia Clarke, Lena Headley and Maisie Williams were all nominated for best supporting actress, and directors Jack Bender and Michael Sapochnik are among the candidates for their profession’s top honor.

The show will compete with FX’s “Fargo”, AMC’s “The Night Manager”, History’s “Roots” and ABC’s “American Crime” in the limited series category, but “Simpson” appears to be an overwhelming favorite. – She has won every year since the show’s premiere five years ago, and this year should be no different. The 68th annual Emmy Awards will be live on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 18, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Don’t worry; Jimmy Kimmel’s fate as host of the upcoming Emmy Awards is in the hands of a toddler.

Now that you know when the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards begin, have you checked out who is nominated for what? The 23 total nominations are one short of last year’s total, but Game of Thrones received nine in the major categories, which is two better than last year.

“I think “Game of Thrones” will be a big victor on Emmy night”, Debra Birnbaum, executive editor for TV at entertainment industry magazine Variety, told AFP.

Claire Danes is a perennial Emmy favourite so it would be interesting to have some one else take the trophy this year.

FX’s acclaimed spy drama The Americans could pull some surprises at today’s ceremony, hosted by funnyman Jimmy Kimmel, with Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell seen as popular outside bets for best actor and actress in a drama.

Davis is nominated in the same category for her work on ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder”.

Rival Amazon.com Inc. earned 16 nominations, up from 12 past year.

Although Veep already won the last year’s Outstanding Comedy Series award, it still has a good chance to get the award again this year.

The Creative Arts Emmys, which were given out past year, honor the more technical, behind-the-scenes work (think: title cards, soundtracks, and special effects).

Television has become a Wild West of adventurous channels and booming digital platforms, with intriguing new shows pouring into its wide-open spaces. The HBO series grew exponentially in their most recent third season and their lead man may have a shot at an upset win. Watching any pre-show, from ABC’s official Countdown to the Emmy Awards: Red Carpet Live (7 ET/4 PT) to, heaven forbid, E!’s reliably idiotic coverage (6 ET/3 PT), will raise your blood pressure and lower your IQ.
