How to watch Mets-Dodgers NLDS Game 5

Last season’s NL Rookie of the Year pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out 13, matching Tom Seaver’s franchise record for a postseason game. 263 with 16 homers and 59 RBI in 137 games, “and I got the opportunity”.

Turner is 7-for-15 in this series, and his two-out, two-run double in the third inning was the difference in the Dodgers 3-1 victory in Game 4. The team won two of three in Los Angeles in early July before splitting the first two games of this series there.

“It’s probably dead even, to be honest”, Kershaw said on Tuesday. Beating Zack Greinke won’t be easy, but but the same can be said of beating deGrom.

Defense: Joc’s the best defensive center fielder on the team by far, but with Greinke on the mound, I’ll take the chance the long fly balls that require Pederson’s speed will be kept to a minimum.

At least on paper, Thursday’s showdown between Greinke and deGrom seems like a dream, an ideal setup for a memorable contest befitting of its stakes.

In Game 3, the Dodgers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. He allowed just one run and struck out eight batters in seven innings, pitching on just three days rest. Add in two regular-season starts, both also of exactly seven innings in length, and Greinke has posted a 1.71 ERA against the Mets this year. “Yeah, I’ve got a preference”, chuckling Mets manager Terry Collins said, drawing laughs. The baseball gods have deemed it so, but boy howdy is it going to be fun. It’s an elimination game. “But the better you pitch, the better your chances are”.

The Dodgers’ win evened the series at two games apiece and ensured deGrom – the Mets’ ace in reality, if not perception – will start Thursday night against Dodgers right-hander Zack Greinke as the two teams battle to decide who advances to face the Chicago Cubs in the NL Championship Series.

Left fielder Michael Conforto talked about the importance of laying off Greinke’s low change-up-which tends to start as a strike, before tumbling out of the zone-while aggressively attacking any elevated fastball they might see. The Mets have a 20-60 record when opponents outhit them. The Dodgers never scored against deGrom. “He’s been able to kind of adapt, and go and get better and better each outing”.

Scouts say that Greinke just doesn’t make many mistakes pitches, and he’ll carve up hitters who get pull-conscious or home run-happy.

Pitching will obviously be key in tonight’s game.

The Mets have a more interesting situation atop the mound. But as David Wright said before the series, “If you go up there thinking that way, you’ll be behind 0-2 and then he’s got you where he wants you”.

Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Andre Ethier, center, celebrates with second baseman Howie Kendrick (47) and shortstop Jimmy Rollins (11) after the Dodgers beat the New York Mets 3-1 in baseball’s Game 4 of the National League Division Series, Tuesday, October 13, 2015, in New York. “We have a few great young athletes and we don’t want to lose any of them, regardless of position, to injuries that can be avoided and we are going to constantly look at the game to find ways to prevent avoidable injuries”.

“And once again, this is a time when you need your guys to step up”. But if deGrom pitched last night and ended up being unavailable for Game 5, who would be there to back up Syndergaard if Noah had to start Game 5?
