As reported by IBT, the music special was was nominated for “Outstanding Variety Special” and “Outstanding Production Design For A Variety, Nonfiction, Event Or Award Special”. A select few shows and series seem to have taken this year’s ceremony by storm.

Best actors, for example, had been decided by panels made up of 75 to 250 people in the academy’s acting branch, said Tom O’Neil, author of “The Emmys” reference book and editor of Gold Derby, an awards handicapping website.
Will “Game of Thrones” retain its crown?
With 16 more nominations this year, Saturday Night Live now has a total of 209 Emmy nominations, making it the most nominated series of all time, ahead of ER with 124. The show garnered 22 nominations. These awards include costuming, makeup, casting, opening title sequence, and hair styling, which, for a limited series or a movie, went to FX’s “American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson”.
According to ET, it was officially announced Monday morning that Kimmel will be the emcee of this year’s star-studded awards show for TV. No one needs me to explain “Game of Thrones” or “House of Cards”, right?

Last year, Jeffrey Tambor won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Actor after just one season of “Transparent” – which is practically unheard of – and this year the Amazon series is up for a whopping 10 Emmys.
