The Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox begin a three-game series Monday night on ESPN. The Boston Red Sox offense continues to produce at an elite level, and they’ve won six of their last seven games when scoring more than three runs.
“A friend of mine that ran the Marathon gave it to me, ” Ortiz, who had the day off, said, according to the Associated Press.
Rodriguez was one of a few pitchers that the Marlins were looking at, but is not one of the players that the Red Sox are willing to trade, Cafardo added.
Pomeranz has never started against the Tigers, but has made one relief appearance against them, pitching a scoreless inning. Veteran outfielder Justin Upton has two base hits in five career at-bats against the left-hander with two walks and two strikeouts.
The Tigers fell 4-3 in the conclusion of a suspended game earlier Sunday before losing 5-4 on Melky Cabrera’s walk-off single in the second game, 5-4.
The Detroit Tigers look for consistency after splitting their last 10 games. On the season, Pomeranz is 8-7 with a 2.83 ERA and he has struck out over a batter per inning in 105 innings of work.
Last Wednesday, Justin Verlander was unlucky not to beat the Minnesota Twins after throwing eight solid innings against them.
