If The Dark Knight Rises, Mad Max: Fury Road, Bronson and Legend have proved anything it’s that Hardy is damn good in a fight. Jackman admitted that he’s still processing the fact that he’s not going to be playing the character for much longer, and joked that he didn’t “want to make it too easy on the studio to replace me”. “I’ve still got one more to do!'” he said. After all, for Jackman, Wolverine was a breakthrough role, but Hardy already has a high profile in Hollywood, so he doesn’t really need it. Watch Jackman tip Hardy for Wolverine below.

So, who will play the role next?

Of course, this is all imagination, but Hugh Jackman has joined in on imagining who a younger Wolverine would be so that makes it OK. In the meantime we can look forward to seeing him in X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27th, 2016 and Wolverine 3 on March 3rd, 2017. “Until that script is ideal, until it is that flawless way to sign out, I’m not gonna start shooting”, he said.

“He’s younger than me for sure”, Jackman, 46, says of the 38-year-old he’d like to see replace him.

“I’m trying to do something with this that is a little special, a little different”.
