Howie Mandel sorry for bulimia joke

Though Mandel was quick to make amends for the comment, some of the comedian’s fans on Twitter have defended the joke, claiming any outrage is a case of viewers being overly politically correct and sensitive.

The America’s Got Talent judge is apologizing after making a comment that wasn’t well-recieved during tonight’s live telecast.

Mandel put his foot in his mouth during Tuesday night’s show while praising a contestant nicknamed “The Regurgitator”, whose talent involves swallowing objects and then gagging them back up.

“This will probably come out wrong, but you, sir, make bulimia entertaining”, quipped Mandel. Do you forgive Howie for his bulimia joke?

Upon the show’s return to air, Mandel paused another performer’s critique to apologize.

While there was no clear reaction from the live audience, Mandel was apparently slammed on social media, and responded to the backlash by issuing an on-air apology two acts later.

Afterwards, he took to his personal Twitter account to apologize yet again to anyone who was offended.

‘I just wanna take a second just to apologize.

“I made a comment earlier, it’s live television, I wasn’t thinking”, he stated and later took to Twitter to apologize once more.

‘I deal with mental health all the time, and I did something stupid. The mental health issue he is referring to is an obsessive compulsive disorder, an issue the TV personality has been open about struggling about for years.
