HP’s latest affordable Chromebook brings Android apps to the party

As with HP’s previous avatars of the Chromebook series, the new 11 G5 lays a lot of stress upon the theme of a lightweight, sturdy, carry-it-anywhere computer that can prove to be particularly useful to students and professionals. Despite the decidedly tiny profile, the new Chromebook 11 G5 promises to runs its new Intel Celeron N3060 processor and large screen for 11 hours on the touch model and 12.5 hours on the non-touch model, according to HP’s battery testing through Chrome power_LoadTest.

The screen will display images at a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.

The IT company announced that the Chromebook 11 G5, a new Chrome OS notebook which comes with touchscreen features, redesigned chassis, narrower display bezels, and is thinner and lighter than previous generations, will be available starting at only $189 Dollars. HP’s latest offering for example, comes barely 2 months after its last, Chromebook 13 release.

Additionally, users will be able to download apps from Google Play, a feature which has been integrated into the upcoming notebook. Android apps on Chromebooks will make their experiences even better.

Engineers at HP took feedback from teachers and students using Chromebooks in the real world to refine the next generation of devices.

HP’s Chromebook 11 G5 features a slimmed-down profile that slips into a backpack easily and gives students a lot more arm room on their desks. The touchscreen option also upgrades the display to an high definition IPS panel and adds a sheet of Gorilla Glass in front of it.

The HP Chromebook 11 G5 arrives for retail partners in July and will go on sale in October.
