More importantly, the design also serves a functional element, aiding with airflow, ventilation and speaker output.

The HP Elite Slice is “the first modular commercial desktop with cable-less connectivity” and boasts a simplified design that allows for convenient customization of its hardware specs and features. The base unit houses the actual PC in a unit measuring 6.5 inches square, and 1.4 inches tall. Consumers can configure the system how they like on the HP website, including swapping out the Core i5 CPU for a faster Core i7, but that will raise the price of the PC.

Peripheral support for enhanced productivity including one Ethernet port, built-in Wi-Fi module11 and antennas, one HDMI and one DisplayPort™ to power multiple displays.

The top can come as just a plain plastic cover, but HP even made the Slice’s cover interchangeable.

Each slice will attach to the other through a USB connection, void of external wires and made particularly to fit into small and flexible work spaces. The design is attractive, and it looks like it could have been inspired by the Scandinavian speaker designs from HP audio partner Bang & Olufsen. The addition of an integrated multi-directional Bang & Olufsen-tuned speaker and dual microphones will mean less wire clutter when you’re watching movies or video chatting with family.

The HP Pavilion Wave PC will run Windows 10 Home out of the box rather than Windows Pro.

The rest of the modules daisy-chain onto the bottom of the main PC module thanks to a special connector and a locking mechanism. Another compact design it is similar to the Elite Slice in scale. The slim computer borrows heavily from the HP Spectre x360 motif, serving up plenty of black soft-touch finish with gorgeous copper accents.

“Charge your devices – Keep your desk clutter-free with a Charging Cover that initiates charging on contact of your up-to 6” diagonal mobile device.

The Elite Slice desktop portfolio actually spans two units: the base model and a version tailored for meeting rooms.

“HP Collaboration Cover turns the desktop into a Microsoft Skype for Business phone”.

As for pricing and availability for everything announced today, here’s what we have. HP displays will also be available for the unit. However, that look also helps HP deliver a number of key innovations.

On the memory and storage front, this PC provides two memory slots supporting up to 32GB of DDR4 memory clocked at 2,133MHz. This won’t make the Wave a gaming powerhouse but will offer respectable performance on moderate settings.
