HRC: Huckabee campaigning on hate

It began with Megyn Kelly and Donald Trump mixing it up – the Fox News debate questioner and the GOP presidential contender engaging in a back-and-forth that some might describe as spirited or tense, others as testy bordering on nasty.

“The objective of the military is [to] kill people and break things”, he said.

He continued: “It’s not to transform the culture by trying out some ideas that some people think would make us a different country and more diverse”.

“I’m not sure how paying for transgender surgery – for soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines – makes our country safer”, he said.

JoDee Winterhof, a senior vice president of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBT rights advocacy organization, slammed the remarks in the hours following the prime-time debate.

Huckabee also inserted some levity into the debate, using a little misdirection in his closing statement. “I think it’s the greatest preparation that a person can have for public service”, he said.

“It’s time that we recognize the Supreme Court is not the supreme being and we change the policy to be pro-life and protect children, instead of rip up their body parts and sell them like they’re parts to a Buick”, Huckabee added.

“In fact, I think that law already exists”. “I was going to say to the host, ‘Hey guys”. I’ve talked to the young couple who’s head over heels in debt… You know what? God gives me unconditional love.
