A spokesperson for HTC told TechRadar: “We’re excited to receive final shipping Android 7.0 Nougat software from Google”. This feature enables users to download security patches and firmware updates and apply them in the background without having to restart their devices.

Following the launch of Android 7 Nougat this week, HTC has told us it’ll be updating its two most recent flagship phones to the new Android software by the end of 2016. Available as a beta release since March, “Android Nougat reflects input from thousands of fans and developers all over the world”, he added. In a post via Google+, Benis said that Google announcement of doing quarterly maintenance releases made him believe the imminent Nexus devices will be launched alongside MR1, possibly around the same time they were in 2015.

The benefit of using an Android-powered device is the freedom that you get with the device and it looks like Google might be planning to offer their users, even more, freedom in the new Android 7.0 Nougat. Following the emergence of several severe Android vulnerabilities past year, some, though not all, Android device manufacturers said they would begin making monthly over-the-air software updates. “I knew 7.1 would be coming sooner than we thought but I’m surprised about Android O though!”

With exception to LG’s V20, which will be the first device to run Nougat out of the box, HTC appears to be the second OEM to provide any type of word on when customers can expect Nougat. Along with the platform, Google is expected to unveil a variety of VR movies, games and other types of content created in-house or in partnership with game developers and other organizations.
