For specifications, the HTC One A9 by an all-new 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor with 1.5GHz quad-core and 1.2GHz quad-core modules. On the imaging front, the One A9 boasts of a 13-Megapixel primary camera with Optical Image Stabilisation and Sapphire cover lens(!) whereas the front camera shapes up in the form of an UltraPixel sensor which aims at facilitating better natural lighting. The one disappointment is that the rear camera can’t take 4k video, but it’s hard to fault a mid-range phone for leaving that feature off.

The spec list continues with HTC BoomSound speakers and Dolby Audio, plus 4G LTE connectivity, Bluetooth 4.1, a MicroSD card slot, and a 2150mA battery with Quick Charge 2.0.

HTC One A9 with 32 GB in-built storage and 3 GB of RAM is available for pre-order on its own online Store with a price tag of $399.99 (AU$550). HTC is also claiming that users will receive Android updates pushed by Google for Nexus within a 15-day window.

Compared to the iPhone 6s and a year ago model, the HTC One A9 is a slightly bigger device and has a 5.0 inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and density of 441 pixels per inch. However, this iPhone doppelgänger is available for a fraction of its Apple twin’s cost. While a few are arguing that HTC One A9 has evolved from the M series flagship but the design evolution is hard to justify.

The HTC One A9 is also the first smartphone outside of the Nexus line to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow, bringing many new software features, such as Android Pay, Now on Tap and Android Doze. HTC has updated this with a focus on camera capabilities, adding a “simplified” camera UI and the ability to process RAW image files on the handset itself.

HTC finally unveiled its latest smartphone Tuesday, which is the latest Hero handset called One A9. It will be available in carbon gray, opal silver, topaz gold and deep garnet color options.

During a live event to announce the phone, HTC also confirmed that the One A9 would be coming to the United Kingdom at the beginning of November. Remarkably though, HTC One A9 does feature OIS. The fingerprint sensor does more than simply unlock the handset, and that’s largely due to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
