HTC One A9 leaks as iPhone 6S doppelganger

HTC will be hosting a media event on October 20, so we have to assume the One A9 is finally slated for release during that date.

It would certainly be an interesting marketing strategy if the One A9 were set up to compete with the iPhone, because for a great many customers, they will pay a lot of money for the Apple logo regardless of the device it is included on. It should also have a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button living up front.

On the busy bottom edge of the device is a microUSB 2.0 port (bad luck to those hoping for Type-C) that is slightly off-center.

The picture of the upcoming Android smartphone from the HTC stable on Twitter offer a clear look of a curved aluminum unibody design, inlaid plastic lines for the antennas, raised circular camera hump, and the oblong SIM and microSD card tray along the side. Meanwhile, the speaker grill and 3.5mm headphone jack are on the bottom, flanking what looks like a miniUSB connection. HTC happen to phoning this a “hero device”, which generally for several intended that it would be were sure to have an eyeball-bleeding the model, but it surely even which the sense of main character let me give you for one particular thing a bit more sensible. Further leaked specs are a 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, 4-megapixel UltraPixel front-facing shooter, and a 2150 mAh battery.

The first device is the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition which is reported to be updated before the end of October. When it was first rumored it was thought that it would be a high-end smartphone, and interest among a few waned somewhat when we learned otherwise.

For those new to this particular handset, we were expecting it to be another flagship to sit alongside the One M9 and One M10 coming next year – but recent rumours suggest it’s going to have a much more mid-range feel.
