Last week, while announcing the One A9, HTC confirmed that the handset would be compatible with Verizon’s LTE network. We just wish it was available for Verizon right off the bat.

HTC is betting its fourth-quarter hopes on the One A9, as the Taiwanese phone maker reported losses in the second and third quarters amid intensified competition and disappointing sales of its One M9 flagship phone.

HTC has recently started taking pre-orders for their recently unveiled smartphone, the HTC One A9 for only $399.99 but however, it seems like this won’t be the case starting next month as the company revealed that the current price for the device is being sold on a “limited time, promotional offer”.

According to HTC, the Verizon-supported One A9 is coming in December.

The HTC One A9 features a five-inch 1920 by 1080 Full HD AMOLED display with a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch (ppi) and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, Adreno 405 GPU (graphics processing unit) and 3 GB of RAM. It includes a 2,150 mAh battery that will provide up to 16 hours of talk time and 432 hours of standby time.

“After the promotional pre-sale offer ends, the new price in the USA at htc.com will be US$499.99 beginning 12:01 am on 11/7”, HTC said.

The website noted that $499.99 is just the suggested retail price, and retailers can still add more on top of it. Many tech experts suggested that if anyone is willing to pay $500-$700 for a good Android smartphone, it will be better to just get a Google Nexus 6P.
