HTC One A9s revealed in new image leak

Last year HTC raised some eyebrows when it unveiled the One A9, a sleek Android phone with more than a passing resemblance to Apple’s iPhone design.

What’s most interesting about the alleged followup device is that HTC seems to have chose to pay homage to Apple naming conventions as well, dubbing the nearly-aesthetically-unchanged model the One A9s – the same nomenclature applied to so-called “tock” year iPhones. While we assumed they were done with the lineup, a new leak suggests that isn’t the case at all as we will meet the HTC One A9s right around the time IFA kicks off.

Fortunately, the front of the device tells a different story as HTC made a decision to keep its standard Home button instead of creating a circular one that’s very typical of the iPhone handsets. It seems as though HTC is following Apple’s naming structure as well – the “S” attached at the end defines a product that’s slightly improved, but void of anything exemplary.

We don’t know much else about the device. Would you consider upgrading to the One A9s? There also won’t be any HTC branding on the front the of the device, similar to the HTC 10. The rear camera has shifted from the center to the corner, and it looks like the front-facing camera is moving, too, but the design is largely unchanged form previous year.

VentureBeat obtained an image of the device in four different colors (white, silver, gold and black color).

We don’t need to wait for long to find out more about the device, as we can expect HTC to unveil the A9S on Thursday.
