HTC One M8 will be updated to Android M

T-Mobile subscribers should get the update in about a week, according to HTC. The changelog has been posted for the Android 5.1 Lollipop update and you can start pulling it now! Naturally there were questions about the HTC One M8 and people who own that device will be glad to know that it has made the list as well.

Android Authority reported about a new update with the label VS98524B, or simply 24B.

As for the first generation of the Moto X, the Android 5.1 soak test has begun for Verizon and AT&T, which means that it will be available for users of both those subscribers soon. For the millions of regular owners we’ll have to wait for official over the air updates from carriers.

The One M9 from HTC on AT&T is receiving an update to Android 5.1 this morning, just as HTC’s Mo Versi said it would. Those with a lost or stolen HTC One M9 can lock the phone and keep it locked even after a factory reset. The HTC One (M8) is another smartphone that will receive the update, although due to it being older we may see the update come later. “We have received technical approval on Lollipop OS 5.1 which includes camera improvements”, stated Versi. The good news is that most of their Motorola Moto phones got the Android 5.0 rollout, which was very stagnant, but the big issue is the Moto X, the Moto G, and the Moto E.

The latest update also comes with multi-user support and better security features. From there, they should go to Software updates and click on OK to bring up the on-screen instructions. Bug fixes and Device Protection are included in the update as well.
