Given that HTC has had a disastrous few years, making considerable losses as its smartphone business flounders, such a positive shift is all the more remarkable.

The rumours got the thumbs up from investors.HTC’s shares reportedly went up by 5.30 per cent when word of the rumor broke out. At one point, the company teased Half-Life 3 and later had to apologize for it, the company then announced a “huge technological breakthrough” for the Vive that actually turned out to be underwhelming to many and now the company is teasing what Valve has in store for its VR Showcase, which takes place soon.

Recent media reports in Taiwan, such as by United Evening News, stating that Cher Wang is planning to spin off HTC’s VR operations into an independent entity that will be wholly owned by Wang is incorrect. While HTC had not made any comments on its price when it was announced, the company also said that fans should expect the Vive to carry a hefty yet justified price tag.

Whatever happens, Oculus Rift is set to launch mid 2016, alongside the HTC Vive and PlayStation VR.

HTC unveiled its first RV headset – the HTC Vive – at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) show in March 2015. This ensures that they do not bump into objects and they can even search for things or controls with the headset on. Gear VR is being used to support Samsung’s smartphones which is an interesting but much smaller market.

Two of those games, the space dogfighting game “Eve: Valkyrie” and playful platformer “Lucky’s Tale”, are included with every Rift free of charge.

As per the current market reports, HTC Vive Pre will allow you to walk in real time in the world of VR!
