A total of 338 million smartphones were sold in the quarter, the report said, representing a 16% increase over the same period a year ago. In fact, thanks in large part to weaker sales growth in the U.S., Europe and China, the market is growing at its slowest rate in years. As a result, Huawei succeeded by shipping 30.6 million phones, almost 50 percent more than past year.
Microsoft’s phone sales nearly halved from 50.3m to 27.8m, taking just 6.4% of global phone shipments, according to data published by Strategy Analytics.
Rounding up the top 5 smartphone producers is Chinese OEM Xiaomi, which improved its grasp of the market from 3.5% to 4.6%. Samsung holds dominion over the smartphone market with 20.5%, although a year earlier the company had a 22.3% marketshare.
It figured out how to develop its handset deals by 45 percent year over year and achieve 7 points market share of the industry. Mawston noted that Microsoft’s 6 percent global mobile phone market share is sitting near an all-time low. Xiaomi recaptured fourth position with 6 percent global smartphone marketshare in Q2 2015, nudging ahead of Lenovo-Motorola in fifth place with 5 percent share. Smartphones made up the majority, or 8 in 10, of all mobile phone shipments during the quarter, the company said.

So, Microsoft, which incorporates the Nokia Lumia design, was outrun by Huawei, even though Lumia, previously, really did perform well in European countries like Italy and Spain, but, at the present time, Microsoft is roughly oriented towards targeting the Apple and Samsung-dominated market. Samsung’s numbers accounted for approximately 21 percent of the second quarter 2015 market share, but were also down from 25 percent market share the year before. “Huawei is rising fast in all regions of the world, particularly China where its 4G models, such as the Mate7, are proving wildly popular”, Hyers said in a statement. However, its place on the list isn’t secure as it faces intense competition in its home market, while its worldwide presence is slowing.
