The latest rumors suggest that the handset is likely going to be released this August, which basically is less than a month from now.

The previous Nexus devices were designed by LG; it will be interesting to see what HTC does with the design. Reports indicate that the upcoming Nexus devices are being codenamed HTC Marlin M1 and HTC Sailfish S1 internally. Now Nexus handsets haven’t exactly been known to have a colorful palette, save maybe for the Nexus 5 which came in at least a trio of colors, but given how these renderings look, we have to say that they look pretty fantastic.

As far as key specs are concerned, the supposed HTC device will feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and run on a Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon processor, which is most likely the latest Snapdragon 820, clocked a speed of 1.6GHz.

It’s also said that the Google smartwatches will be Nexus branded. Currently, the phones are codenamed Marlin and Sailfish. And just like in the past, this year’s Nexus devices are aimed at delivering top-notch specs and a pure Android experience.

They shall also include LTE, heart rate monitor functionality, and Global Positioning System with better text input controls.

For those who are still running the marathon, they are staring at the possibility of maybe getting Android 7.0 Nougat to run on their Nexus 4 or Galaxy S3.

Lockheimer tweeted the news either on objective or not, stating that he’s just testing some stuff out but the image posted shows the word “Nutella” on Google search engine. This could be a clue to an upcoming Google smartphone to be released very soon. Other reports suggest a 12MP rear camera alongside an 8MP selfie cam and a 3450mAh battery. The publication goes on to say that the photos looked like internal shots of the device. A developers’ kit is due out in the autumn before commercial release expected in 2017.
