Huawei intends to capitalise on the success it enjoyed with the P9 in 2016.

The P10 Plus gets a brighter lens with F1.8 aperture, and the P10 lens features a F2.2 aperture.

If you were anxious about your smartwatch not lasting the day, Huawei has the watch for you – as well as new phones with Leica cameras. However, if picture taking is something you primarily use your smartphone for, grab the P10.

On top of all that, Huawei claims the P10 and P10 Plus have machine learning capabilities that will help the system run smoothly and launch apps fast depending on their size and usage.

Knowing that Stupeflix the company behind the awesome Replay app has been acquired by GoPro, Highlights feels like an updated version of this application – see the demo of the old Replay app to get a sense of what it does. The fingerprint is then moved from the usual rear position to the physical home button in the front. It’s not a button per se, as it doesn’t press in (yep, just like the iPhone), but it takes in swipes and taps that turn it into a single-button alternative to the Android control keys.

The company, seen as the world’s third largest smartphone vendor, seized its opportunity to make a splash at the event, with the expectation that rival Samsung would not use Mobile World Congress to unveil its new flagship.

Additionally, P10 and P10 are hardier compared to its predecessors as it has demonstrated an 80 per cent improvement in the drop test, said the company chief. Huawei is merely making the process more simpler. However, both phones have slightly different cameras.

The P10 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch QHD display, Kirin 960 CPU, and also 4GB RAM/64GB ROM. The other colours include Rose Gold, Graphite Black, Prestige Gold and Mystic Silver.

Despite its 5.2-inch screen, the Huawei P10 is quite compact.

On the other hand, the Huawei P10 Lite ships with a smaller 5.2-inch screen with a Full HD resolution. It has a low-power mode that lasts 25 days without charging. This, unfortunately, also means you’re going to have to pay a lot more for a P10 than you’d expect, with prices starting at €649 for the P10 and €699 for the P10 Plus.

Moving on, the dual-SIM P10 and P10 Plus run Android Nougat-based Emotion UI and support 4G LTE connectivity. The P9 launched with Android 6 Marshmallow on board, but you can now upgrade it over-the-air to Android 7.

The P10 Plus is the better version of the two handsets.

Huawei’s association with Leica extends beyond the rear camera this time, as even the front camera comes with a Leica-certified lens with f/1.9 aperture. Prior to this the company had launched its Honor 8 sports smartphone in Sapphire Blue and had also introduced to the world a Porsche-designed Huawei Mate 9. Whether this actually works in practice, we haven’t found out yet. The P10 Plus comes in 4GB or 6GB RAM options.
