Huawei to launch P9 smartphone with Leica dual cameras today

After unveiling the device globally in April, Huawei is all set to launch the P9 officially in India, today, Aug 17. It has collaborated with legendary camera brand Leica for this phone, so that it can take on Apple and Samsung’s phones in the imaging department. Huawei has used an IPS panel here to make way for better viewing angles compared to a standard LCD display.

As you would expect from a flagship smartphone, the Huawei P9 flaunts a unibody design made up of aerospace-grade aluminum, diamond-cut edges, and covered in 2.5D glass. The phone comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage, and is powered by an Octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 955 chipset. Huawei P9 supports the latest in LTE bands, along with Bluetooth 4.1 with low energy mode. However, the P9 with its dual cameras, hybrid AF system (laser + PDAF) does lack optical image stabilisation (OIS). Along with the watch Huawei also announced its MateBook which is scheduled for launch later this year.

The smartphone features an all-metal construction with a focus on the camera module which has been co-engineered with the German lens and camera specialist, Leica. Both the front and back cameras are limited to just Full HD (1080p) video recording. The feature helps users create professional bokeh effects by setting aperture all the way down to f/0.95 and defocusing the background. It’s a premium smartphone offering from Huawei.

Of the two 12MP cameras on the back, one camera sensor captures the colour information and the other sensor captures only the black and white and varying levels of gray information.

It has a 3000mAh battery and sports a triple antenna which enables you to use the phone under different signal conditions.

Huawei also promises to replace the device instead of servicing; the user can get a new device if there is any hardware related problem occurred in the first three months. Along with this, the buyers will also get one free device replacement instead of fix during the first three months of the purchase.
