Huckabee Backs Denying Abortion To 10-Year-Old Raped By Stepfather

The former Arkansas governor said while there are “no easy answers” in such a case, abortion should not be seen as a solution. “I don’t think we discount the intrinsic worth of any human being, and I don’t know where else to go with it than just to be consistent and say, if life matters, and that’s a person, then every life matters”, he said.

The presidential hopeful says the deal would essentially arm and equip a terrorist state. “The Iranian government is not to be trusted”, he said.

She said the campaign will disclose details of the trip when he returns.

Huckabee said that he will be in Israel only for “a couple of days” but that it is important to discuss the nuclear deal. Huckabee announced the trip to Israel on Sunday.

Huckabee’s allusion to the Holocaust regarding the Iran deal drew stringent criticism from Jewish groups as well as Obama himself.

Pro-choice advocates have been calling for a change in Republican views on abortion, noting the recent case of an 11-year old girl in Paraguay who became pregnant after being raped by her stepfather. The girl gave birth this week.

Huckabee added that well-known Pastor James Robison was conceived as a result of a rape, and that his mother “begged” doctors in the 1940s to give her an abortion – but they refused.

Huckabee said that the case in Paraguay is a “terrible tragedy” but that an abortion should not have been permitted. A 10-year-old girl being raped is disgusting. Huckabee recounted the story of his former boss, whose mother was raped and tried three times, unsuccessfully, to have an abortion.

“And I wouldn’t even pretend that it’s anything other than a awful tragedy”, Huckabee admitted.
