Witnesses describe hearing a loud explosion in Somalia’s capital, and huge clouds of smoke could be seen as a suicide auto bomb went off.

The seizure of the bomb-laden auto comes two days after deadly vehicle bomb and gun attack on beach-front restaurant left 10 people, including 5 civilians dead.

Scientists have found evidence to support what many dog owners have long believed: man’s best friend really does understand some of what we’re saying.

“There was a blast close to the SYL hotel area, near the main checkpoint of the presidential palace”, said security officer Ibrahim Mohamed.

The militants were pushed out of Mogadishu by the African Union peacekeeping force AMISOM in 2011 but have remained a serious threat, launching frequent attacks aimed at overthrowing the government.

Homegrown extremist group al-Shabab has claimed the blast. Three gunmen attacked the beach club last week Thursday, 2 of them has been killed and one intoxicated terrorist has been captured alive.

Al Shabaab’s Radio Andaluz said that the group was behind the attack.
