Your Facebook news feed has likely been flooded with posts on the manhunt for Steve Stephens. Police have not talked about a possible motive behind the shooting of Godwin.
“He could be nearby”.
Stephens, 37, of Cleveland, Ohio, who was described as armed and risky, was also placed on the FBI’s Most Wanted list, a designation officials hope will help raise public awareness about the case.
Cleveland State University issued and later lifted a shelter-in-place issued on Sunday, while officials from Case Western Reserve University issued a security alert.
EPD says they won’t be doing anything special.
He said Mr Stephens has several traffic violations, but no previous criminal record. He filed for bankruptcy two years ago.
During the video posted on Facebook, Stephens was wearing his work badge for behavioral health agency Beech Brook.
“He got along with everybody, so it’s just unbelievable what happened”, said Alexis Lee, a friend who saw Stephens last week. Godwin apparently was shot while out picking up cans in a plastic shopping bag, his daughter said.
Identified as 74-year-old Robert Godwin, Sr. “That’s all he was doing”.
She said her father was a gentle man with nothing mean about him. “He’d pick up things off the street and fix them”. From Godwin’s response, it did not appear that he knew the woman that Stephens spoke of. The suspect then pointed a gun at Godwin, who shielded his face with the plastic bag.
Authorities said Stephens is a black male who is 6-feet 1-inch and weighs 244 pounds.
“It can therefore disturb me internally have an affect on my sleep, have an affect on my sense of safety, have an affect on my overall general feeling about the world”.
While the video was eventually taken down for obvious reasons, it took about three hours in total for the video to be removed, likely garnering thousands of views before its removal from the site, Fortune reports. “At this time, there is no indication that the subject is at our location or anywhere in the city of Philadelphia”, Philly police said in a statement.
Kortemeyer could not provide Stephens’ job title, nor could she say how long he’d worked at Beech Brook.
Beech Brook has said it is shocked and horrified by news of the shooting and hopes Stephens is apprehended quickly.
A spokeswoman for the behavior health facility where the suspect in the shooting of an elderly Cleveland man worked says the man underwent an extensive Federal Bureau of Investigation background check before being hired in 2008.

Stephens filed for bankruptcy in January 2015. The company on Monday said it would begin reviewing how it monitors violent footage and other objectionable material in response to the killing. “This is a very hard time for me and my family Please respect our privacy at this time”.
