So, when a 22-year-old man approached 12-year-old Karla with gifts of candy and sweet words, she was flattered. For years, she underwent brutal torture everyday from her clients and the Trafficking ring’s boss, who used to burn her with an iron box and beat her with iron chains.

Karla said her boyfriend would leave her by herself for a week in their apartment and his cousins would show up with new girls every week.

A tormented woman, Karla Jacinto claims that she was raped 43,600 times where she was forced to bed with 30 men every day for a period of 4 years.

Currently, 23-year-old Karla advocates against human trafficking where her testimony helped United States to make information on a lot of sex offenders names public. We were in Guadalajara for a week.

Sex trafficking is believed to account for 80 per cent of the world’s 20 million to 30 million “modern-day slaves”, Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes told U.S. politicians after Ms Jacinto’s address in May.

The young Jacinto was forced to have sex with 30 men a day and had no days off. In the four years she was enslaved, she saw at least 23,200 clients, she said.

Human trafficking has become a trade so lucrative and prevalent, that it knows no borders and links towns in central Mexico with cities like Atlanta and NY.

She would be sent to brothels, roadside motels, streets known for prostitution and even homes in several different cities.

Forced into prostitution by human traffickers at the young age of 12, Jacinto says she was abused for as long as she can remember. We were not even developed. There were girls who were only 10-years-old. She was just 12 years old when it all started. “He told me I liked being a whore”. We had sad faces. “They told the officers they were minors and nobody paid attention”, Jacinto said.

Karla tells how she was attacked by her trafficker after a john gave her a hickey.

She said she had “no other identity” beyond that of a sex object and urged the Congress to do more to stop the criminal enterprise, the Washington Times reported. She was still a minor, just 16 years old when her nightmare ended, but it is something that she will never be able to forget.

He took the baby away from her a month after the baby was born, and she was not allowed to see her again until the girl was more than a year old.

In 2008, Karla Jacinto was finally rescued during an anti-trafficking operation in Mexico City, when she was aged 16.

US and Mexican officials both point to a town in central Mexico that for years has been a major source of human trafficking rings and a place where victims are taken before being eventually forced into prostitution.

She has previously spoken with Pope Francis at conference on modern slavery in July and has shared her story in the US Congress.
