Humane Society needs help after seizing exotic animals
The Van Wert County Humane Society Shelter wasn’t always viewed in a positive light.

You can tour the shelter and visit the pets and it’s a great event that will benefit the animals, just in time for the holidays. While partaking in cookies and cider, the public will be able to fill stockings – one for each animal at the shelter – with toys and treats to be distributed on Christmas Eve.
Robeson, who has dogs of her own, said she first became involved in the shelter because she was interested in walking the dogs that were brought in.
More than 200 invitations were sent out on the event, which is held every year to raise awareness about the Humane Society and its mission.
The Calgary Humane Society has seized 333 exotic animals from a northeast Calgary pet store whose owner has previously faced three sets of charges relating to animals in distress.
“The sewer lines were plugged up and there wasn’t any water pressure, there wasn’t a washer and dryer … we didn’t have anything”, Weir said of the facility challenges.
“This is my favourite part of the party”, said Fulton.
The Albany Humane Society encourages and accepts donations year round to help care for the thousands of animals that come through their doors.
Brown said sometimes the center does have to euthanize animals.
Previously, animals had to be held for seven days, but the time frame has been reduced to five days before other steps can be taken.
You’ll receive a 5×7 picture for $20, and all money raised goes toward the Humane Society to help them maintain everyday operations.

The Humane Society is non-profit organization. The Sunshine Fund, a spay and neuter assistance program, provides funding based on need.
