On the tour, Clinton and her running mate will hold a combination of public rallies, smaller events focused on issues central to their campaign, and local retail stops.
Kaine, joined by his wife Anne Holton, addressed the crowds that assembled late Saturday, sharing with them how the day went, which was highlighted by being formally introduced as Clinton’s vice-presidential running mate during a campaign stop in Florida.
But, Huckabee also said, that on a personal level, he believes that Kaine is “an honorable guy”.
Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager accuses Russian Federation of leaking emails on goal from the Democratic National Committee to help Republican Donald Trump in the presidential election. He called Kaine’s history “fantastic” and said it was a miracle that he could be a progressive in a Southern state.
And in a recent C-SPAN interview he said: “I do what I do for spiritual reasons. April 16th, 2007 was the worst day of my life, and the worst day of so many lives”. “Y bienvenidos a todos”, Sen.
Sanders supporter Angie Morelli called Kaine “a terrible pick” and said it showed Clinton wanted to reach more conservative voters rather than bring more Sanders supporters into the fold.
In contrast, he said, Clinton “doesn’t insult people, she listens to them. What a novel concept”. “Do you want a trash-talking president or a bridge-building president?”
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, accompanied by Senator Tim Kaine.
Clinton is hoping Kaine will help her appeal to independents and moderates, but some supporters of Clinton’s Democratic primary rival, U.S. Sen.
Sanders said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he would have preferred another person for vice president, but the choice was up to Clinton.
“It makes me wonder, is she really going to follow through with all those progressive platforms and things she’s claiming she’s going to get passed through?” pondered Asami Kobayashi also of Honolulu.
Sanders endorsed Clinton last month but has yet to drop out of the race for the nomination despite not having the number of delegates and superdelegates necessary to secure a win.
While Clinton and Kaine are in favor of women’s reproductive rights, Kaine has described himself as a “traditional Catholic”, and has said he personally opposes abortion. That record, he says, will give the party an opening to “invest in turning out black and brown vote”. So far, neither the DNC nor the Clinton Campaign has commented.
“When Donald Trump says he has your back, you better watch out”, said the Harvard-trained lawyer.
