On Thursday, 19 people, including six women and 10 children, were killed and 138 were rescued from near the Greek island of Kalymnos in the eastern Aegean Sea, witnesses said, according to the Agence France-Presse (AFP). According to a few reports, a second boat accidentally crashed into the vessel causing it to sink.
Separately, authorities in Berlin on Friday said the suspect in a case that has shocked Germany has confessed to another crime.
At least 50 people drowned attempting to cross the sea between Turkey and Greece this week, including many children.
When they arrive, the scenes can be dramatic, Divelli said. Also, all the European countries are putting pressure on Turkey, which is already housing 2 million refugees, based on the assumption that there were will be fewer of them making the cross.
The backlog of a few 4,000 people fleeing wars and poverty in the Middle East, Asia and Africa was formed in the refugee camp in Sentilj as Austrian authorities struggled to process and register as many as they arrive from the Slovenian side. “We are a poor people, but we have retained our values and humanity, and we aren’t claiming a single euro to do our duty to people who are dying in our back yard”, Tsipras said, after an opposition lawmaker asked what Greece had received in return for agreeing to host refugees.
Wednesday saw 16 people confirmed dead and 274 people rescued when a wooden boat they were on fell apart in rough seas off the Greek island of Lesbos.
The inhumane treatment of the migrants and refugees has been criticised by charities.
Thousands of refugees, many escaping the Syrian civil war that has raged for four and a half years, are trying to reach Europe in overcrowded boats and rubber dinghies even as temperatures drop.
The Marine Rescue service said on its official Twitter account that 15 migrants were found alive on the boat Thursday in the Mediterranean Sea south from the Spanish port of Malaga.
And in Germany on Friday Chancellor Angela Merkel’s deputy blasted members of the government for bickering over what to do about the influx.

Speaking in parliament Friday, Tsipras said that the Aegean is washing up “not just dead children, but the very civilization of Europe”.
