On Hunger Action Day, Thursday, September 8th, wear your boldest, brightest orange.

Riffing off the format of those viral recipe videos that plague your Facebook feed, hunger nonprofit Feeding America and the Ad Council have released a video that shines a glaring light on hunger in the U.S. But the PSA is missing one key thing: food.

“I have always been so proud of our community”, said Susan Estee, Executive Director of Second Harvest North Central Food Bank. Post the pictures on social media outlets and tag the NEIFB.

For 48.1 million Americans, just keeping food on the table is a struggle that leads to rumbling stomachs. Grote says the public’s help is needed during September to promote hunger awareness. Approximately 94 cents of every dollar donated to Island Harvest Food Bank goes to programs that support more than 316,000 Long Islanders.
