When Katniss yelled out: “I volunteer! I volunteer as tribute!”
Filling the entire Sony Center, fans of our most beloved Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, even camped out the night before. Her character Effie Trinket would be proud.
The Australian-born hunk has formed a close friendship with his The Hunger Games co-star, so was saddened when intimate images of the actress found their way onto the Internet previous year (14). Finnick says it all to Katniss: “Welcome to the 76th Hunger Games”.
But it was the wedding dress which really stood out in Catching Fire, subverting the plans of President Snow. In an attempt to lure them to their doom, the outskirts of the Capitol play host to a variety of threats – a minefield of hoped-for sticky endings – which nod to the grim, televised thrills of the Hunger Games themselves. It all went down when Jennifer was asked what one of the most hard scenes to film was, and she claimed it was “Snow’s assassination”. And as Katniss raised her arms, she became the mockingjay itself – a symbol to those who opposed the Capitol. Stop killing for him! But his deliberate decision only made the gesture more powerful. Snow still believes he’s playing an obsessive game to outwit and destroy Katniss, but Katniss is no longer anyone’s pawn, and to her, this is no contest.
As the fourth and final instalment of the superior Young Adult series opens, our heroine has literally lost her voice. It is a battle for everything she has come to believe in and the people she loves.
“In this film, she’s finally accepted her role and seen the effect she can have as the Mockingjay”.
“I wanted her to be a warrior right away, I wanted her to want to be a leader”, 25 year old Lawrence admitted. “And I give mine in the same exact manner, and you would have thought I had said something offensive”.

He added, “I don’t think about it because you see people as people and if you’re qualified, you’re qualified-whether you have a d-k or not”. Yes Hunger Games regulars, including Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks and the charisma-free Liam Hemsworth – as Katniss’ old District 12 friend Gale – all return.
