Huntington Pays Tribute To Veterans With Parade, Special Ceremony
Several Vietnam veterans told Stouffer after all the controversy about the reasons behind the war, this focus on their service 50 years later means a great deal. “It’s just nice, the appreciation that goes into Veterans Day for us”.

Veteran Charlie Robinson says, “makes me feeling rewarded and makes me feel so happy, very eager and very honored to be here”.
For a few, Veterans Day is nothing more than a day off work. “America is the brightest beacon of freedom the world has ever known for one simple reason – our veterans – the men and women who put service above self”, Governor Abbott said.
They say coming to the wall and seeing the long list of names brings back memories about how they were treated when they returned from war.
Memorial Day: Celebrated the last Monday in May, Memorial Day is the holiday set aside to pay tribute to those who died serving in the military.
“We honor every soldier, sailor, airmen, marine and coast guardsmen who gave a few of the best years of their lives to the service of the United States and stood ready to give life itself on our behalf”, said Major General John Baker, the Commanding General with the 7 Signal Command at Fort Gordon.
Phil Madaio, president of the board of directors for the MA Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Green Hill Park, said it is important to honor those men and women who served and came home from war just as it is important to honor the fallen soldiers. “We really, truly didn’t ever think this day would come”. “But we want to get ten veterans to sponsor them to get back to the Vietnam Wall in April”.
“I feel proud to show my support”, said third year JROTC member Anthony Camposeco, who marched in formation in the Lake Worth parade. At my State of the State address, I recognized the oldest living veteran from World War II – Richard Overton, age 109.
