Lieutenant Jeff Dube of the Leesburg (Va.) Police Department confirmed a missing persons report had been filed Monday for Willard Hurley.

Hurley says they do not know why his father, Willard, left.

“I just found out about it yesterday afternoon”, said Hurley, whose best finishes on the PGA Tour have been ties for fourth at the 2012 AT&T National and at the 2014 The Greenbrier Classic.

The Leesburg Police Department is asking that anyone who has any information or may have seen Hurley or his vehicle to call tham immediately at (703) 771-4500. So he’s been gone about nine days, I guess. We have no idea why he left and it’s complete speculation for anybody to try and put their finger on that.

Hurley’s father lives in Leesburg, Virginia, about 25 miles north of Robert Trent Jones Golf Club.

Police don’t suspect foul play at this time, Dube said.

“Since then, we kind of ran into a brick wall”, he said. On July 23, 2015 it has been determined that Mr. Hurley stayed overnight at a Hotel in Texarkana, Texas. He’s playing this week in hopes his father will see him on TV and come home, he said. Speaking to The Norris & Davis Show, prior to learning of his father’s disappearance, he said “It’s one of the premier events on tour, and it’s the top…as far as honoring and taking care of our military”. But you know, I’m just hopeful.’.

“This was a hard decision for my family to make to even make this public”, Hurley said.

Willard's disappearance was revealed by son and PGA golfer Billy Hurely III during a tearful press conference ahead of this week's Quicken Loans National taking place 25 miles from were he went missing
