Hurricane Danny may be downgraded to tropical storm by tomorrow

The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Saturday morning that Danny was still showing signs of weakening.

A tropical storm watch is in place for Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Anguilla; Saba and St. Eustatius; St. Maarten; and Guadeloupe, S t. Barthelemy, and St. Martin, the Hurricane Center said. It is foretasted to make landfall in the Leeward Islands early Monday as a Tropical Storm. I expect the storm to continue to weaken. Currently, there are two more areas of low pressure off of Cape Verde that have raised meteorological eyebrows. Tropical storm watches may be issued for portions of the Leeward Islands and the Virgin Islands on Saturday and Sunday. Weather Channel meteorologist Tom Moore told NBC News that Danny was no longer forecast to unleash the 100-mph-plus winds that had been expected Friday.

In Hawaii, forecasters warned that tropical depression Kilo is expected to gradually strengthen and could pass Kauai as a hurricane this week.

August is the first month of the Atlantic hurricane peak season, which runs through October.

Danny was forecast to move near or over parts of the Leeward Islands late Sunday or early Monday. Look for his updates online and on twitter. One of which has a 70% chance of becoming a cyclone within the next 48 hours and an 80% chance in the next 5 days.

The revised forecast showed it strengthening into a hurricane on Tuesday evening.

Eventually, this could mean a storm approaching the United States coast. Tropical Storm Danny is off to the East of the Lesser Antilles.

The Atlantic Hurricane Season technically runs from June 1 to November 30 each year.

“As hurricanes develop from thunderstorms, they need to grow tall in the atmosphere as heat and moisture is concentrated in the middle of the storm”, the Washington Post’s Angela Fritz wrote last month.
