Fourteen public works crews used chains saws, log loaders and jet vacuum trucks to clear roadways and drainage inlets.

The worst of it will remain south and east of the county.
“We expect a lot of down traffic lights and road signs, so Floridians should not travel unless they have to”, Scott said.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Assistant Chief Leonard Propper says JSO will be monitoring wind speeds throughout the evening and the public will know as soon as police make the determination.
The National Weather Service has issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for CT this Labor Day weekend due to the likely impacts of Hermine, which became a hurricane Thursday and is now back to a Tropical Storm this morning.
At 11 a.m., Hermine, which was downgraded to a tropical storm, was about 55 miles west-southwest of Savannah, Georgia and 130 miles west-southwest of Charleston, South Carolina. Thousands more outages were reported by the state’s electric cooperatives, which cover many rural areas in south Georgia.
On Friday morning, Governor Rick Scott gave an update on the impact Hurricane Hermine had on Florida.
The storm could stall out to southeast for a few days. But it’s unclear whether Florida will get any federal disaster assistance as the state begins to clean up from the storm.
Hermine’s maximum sustained winds Thursday morning were near 65 miles per hour (100 kph).
Beaufort is under a tornado watch until 8 a.m., according to the National Weather Service in Charleston.
A Flash Flood Watch is our for Elbert, Laurens, Union, Greenwood, Abbeville and Newberry counties through Friday night.
Hermine could bring up to 10 inches of additional rainfall to some places, including Tallahassee – with up to 15 inches possible in some areas, forecasters said. “I need to know where we’re going after we leave the hospital, ‘” Beach said.
“We associate severe rain events like tropical events and hurricanes with increases in nuisance mosquitoes, not disease-spreading (mosquitoes)”, said Ben Beard of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Georgia Power reports that almost 48,000 of its customers were without power statewide just after dawn Friday as Hermine rolls across the southern section of the state.
The storm is expected to cross over southeastern Georgia during the day on Friday, pass over the coastal Carolinas overnight and move into the Atlantic on Saturday, the National Hurricane Center says.
