Hurricane Joaquin heads toward Bermuda this weekend
The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Joaquin was centered early Saturday about 75 miles (120 kms) northeast of San Salvador, Bahamas, and about 745 miles (1,205 kms) southwest of Bermuda.

“Flash flooding is already ongoing and has become serious in a few locations, including the Charleston, South Carolina metro”.
It is blamed for sinking a more than 700-foot cargo ship near Crooked Island in the Bahamas with 33 crew members on board.
The hurricane is centered about 185 miles (300 kilometers) north of Bermuda and is moving north-northeast near 13 mph (20 kph).
The latest update on the Hurricane Joaquin Projected Path is prompting a Hurricane Warning for Bermuda Sunday.
The Bermuda Weather Service reported that the island should start to feel tropical storm-force winds later Sunday.
Weather models conflict over whether the storm will hit the United States’ East Coast, Wolf said, and the governor was receiving regular briefings from meteorologists and emergency managers.
Let us remember the seniors and families experiencing hard circumstances at this time and afford them any help they need in preparation.
After roaring across parts of the Bahamas as a category 4 hurricane, Joaquin has lost steam as it travels across the Atlantic and winds have dropped to 105mph, making it a category 2 storm. U.S. Coast Guard, Navy and Air Force planes and helicopters are looking for the El Faro across a broad expanse of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Met Office has said that it is “increasingly likely” that Joaquin will impact Britain, with parts of the country facing “severe gales” and “heavy rain“. An Inmarsat satellite notification at about 7:30 a.m. on Thursday alerted the U.S. Coast Guard of the ship’s distress due to Hurricane Joaquin. The C-130 then searched throughout the day, returning only to refuel. “People were lined up outside the gate before we opened this morning”.
