Julia is moving at about 6 miles per hour (9 kph), and forecasters say it will meander near northern Georgia and southern SC coastlines into Friday.

Rain accumulations of 3 to 6 inches along the coastline of SC from Georgetown southward were forecast, and 2 to 4 inches near Savannah, Ga.
Power outages were “light and scattered” in coastal Georgia Wednesday and Georgia Power managed them with local crews, spokesman John Kraft said.
Meanwhile, a new tropical depression has formed far out over the Atlantic and is moving west.
Near 11 a.m. EDT Julia was centered about 20 miles (32 kilometers) northeast of Brunswick, Georgia, and moving north-northeast at 6 mph (10 kph). While those wind speeds can be risky, the slow-moving storm also brings the threat of flooding.
Tropical Storm Julia dumped heavy rains along coastal Georgia and SC on Wednesday, weakening as it drifted north along the U.S. Southeast coast, the National Hurricane Center said.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida northward to Altamaha Sound, Georgia.
“We still have a couple of weeks to watch the system, but it could move closer to the Lesser Antilles by the middle or the end of next week as a tropical storm with the name Karl”, Bridges said. Sustained wind speeds 15-25 miles per hour with gust near 35 miles per hour. “Possibly in isolated areas up to 3 inches that could impact Tybee”.
Tropical Storm Julia is bringing heavy rain to the northeast coast of Florida and southeast Georgia.

Earlier forecasts estimated twice as much rain.
Elsewhere in the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Ian continues to churn in the central Atlantic, not a threat to the continental U.S.
School districts shut down for a day on September 2, giving students a longer Labor Day holiday weekend because of the possible threat of rain, flooding and strong winds from Tropical Storm Hermine. “We sold out of batteries, we sold out of rakes the day after; a lot of duct tapes, tarps, things that you need to get over the storm”, said Beth Castelli, Owner, Coligny True Value. Although until such a turn occurs we will continue to monitor the progress of the system to make sure it does not threaten any land areas.
