Miami quarterback Brad Kaaya threw for four touchdowns and three running backs topped 100 yards on the ground as the Hurricanes ushered in the Mark Richt era Saturday night with a 70-3 victory against Florida A&M.

“I’ll just say this: I really, really like it here”, said Richt, a 1982 Miami grad. It’s been a long time since Miami has put that many first-timers in a game. “I like these players, I like this University, I like the vibe of the city”.
He watched his offense execute his play calls for 523 total yards.
The first day-after film study session of Mark Richt’s tenure at Miami revealed “a lot of good images”, the coach said.
“Some of our challenges that we had on Saturday night against Southern Illinois, some of things that didn’t go our way, was because they were so emotional to play Southern Illinois”, Partridge said.
Richt returned to calling plays for the Canes’ offense, something he hadn’t done in a while during his coaching career.

Oher freshmen listed as getting playing time: safeties Jeff James, Cedrick Wright and Romeo Finley; cornerback Malek Young; receiver Dionte Mullins; tight end Michael Irvin II; and defensive end Joe Jackson. With this information, in addition to the talent advantage that Miami has, it looks like Miami will win the game but maybe Florida A&M can give them a fight and pull off an upset. They take a big step up in competition each week until they begin a daunting four-game stretch in October that begins when the other team from Tallahassee makes their maiden voyage to Hard Rock stadium.
