The 23-year-old had 48 points this season – the most in his career and the second most on the team – with 21 goals and 27 assists in 80 games.

He set the Coyotes franchise record for goals earlier this season.

In two seasons with the Hurricanes, Rask has played in 160 games, while tallying 32 goals and 81 points. He was fourth among Carolina forwards in ice time per game (16:58).

“He is a big part of this team’s present and future, and we are thrilled to sign him to a longer-term deal”, Francis said when speaking about the importance of Rask to the Hurricanes.

Doan, who will turn 40 on October 10, led the Coyotes with 28 goals last season, and had 47 points in 72 games.

A native of Leksand, Sweden, Rask was selected by Carolina with the No. 42 overall pick in the second round of the 2011 entry draft.
