Describing Kashmir as an internal matter of India, the USA has said it is concerned over the violence and asked all stakeholders to make efforts towards finding a peaceful resolution to the issue following the killing of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani in the Valley.
The death toll has risen 32 in the firing by Indian troops on protest that erupted after the martyrdom of Burhan Wani.
At least 31 civilians and a police driver have been killed in clashes between the security forces and angry young demonstrators across the Kashmir Valley since Saturday.
Indian-held Kashmir remains tense as two more civilian protesters died due to gunfire from Indian forces Wednesday while the body of another young man was fished out of the water, bringing the overall civilian death toll to 35.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier today chaired a high-level meeting in the national capital where he appealed to maintain peace and calm in the valley.
The separatist groups yesterday extended the strike call till July 13 to coincide with what they termed 85th anniversary of those who were killed in police firing in 1931.
The restrictions will remain in force even today in most areas of Srinagar city and four districts of Kashmir as a precautionary measure, officials said.
Sabzar (a native of Rathsuna in southern Kashmir) was reportedly a close friend of Wani.
Thirty two people have so far lost their lives in the violent clashes between protesters and security forces in the Valley following the killing of Wani.
Doctors and government officials said they were struggling to care for hundreds of civilians who have been admitted to hospitals with bullet and pellet wounds.
“With the killing of disarmed people, India has not only violated the global laws of human rights but it is also guilty of the violation of United Nations’ resolution on Kashmir”. They warned India to stop killing of unarmed people or the situation may take a turn for the worse.
