Hurt Panthers’ Davis, Harper ruled out

While his tenacity is admirable and his toughness is unquestioned, the reality is that Davis being physically prepared to play two weeks removed from fracturing his arm may not be realistic.

In this example of the immovable object versus the irresistible force, we actually had a resolution as Davis’ arm went limp and he was forced to leave the field. “But if you know Thomas, he’s a fighter, and he’s going to come back as best he can”.

Ron Rivera chuckled when asked how his dabbing, selfie-posing, Superman-strutting, touchdown-ball-giving players will handle all of the attention that comes to a team in the Super Bowl. “But I also trust the Panthers team physicians and medical staff who will clear him only if they feel confident in his prognosis”.

“I don’t put it past Thomas playing”, defensive tackle Kawann Short said. When the former safety returned six years into his National Football League career to get his degree and walk at commencement in Athens, Mark Richt said, “He’s one of the greatest kids who ever came through here and one of the finest players who every came through here”.

That’s why Panthers’ outside linebacker Thomas Davis isn’t letting a broken arm prevent him from an elusive chance for a ring. “If it is at all possible I know they are going to get me back and I will do my part to make sure I’m ready”.

Rivera did not know which forearm bone Davis broke.

Expect more dancing, dabbing and pure merriment from the Panthers during Super Bowl week – much to the haters’ chagrin.

The Panthers led by charismatic quarterback Cam Newton are enjoying the ride.

While Rivera awaits word on his injured players and continues mapping out this week and next in getting ready, he’ll begin reaching out to colleagues in the coaching profession for advice. It’s hard, it’s hard to get to where we are right now.
